It was a beautiful day in Pinawa.
The early morning fog on the lake as the sun rose over the trees was a great way to start the day. I, unfortunately, did not get up as early as I should have to get better photos of this view.
I did, however, manage to catch some photos of a triathlon. 🙂
And yes, that is why I went out to Pinawa in the first place, if you were wondering.
Here are a few of my favourites:
What your purchase goes towards
In a nutshell, you are helping us provide better services for events such as this one, and a portion of your money is going to a charity!
One of our philosophies is giving to the community. We come to events, such as the Pinawa Triathlon, on a volunteer basis. That means if no one buys any photos, we feel a little sad.
- we provide as much value as we can in bringing the best equipment we have at our disposal
- we pride ourselves in capturing that one moment that not just anybody can get
- we help promote events like this on social media, again, on a volunteer basis
- a portion of the funds generated go to great causes
- and, of course, we would like to improve on our equipment so we can bring even more value and be more prepared to capture your memories.
You’re probably wondering about the charity part. A new thing we are doing this time around is donating 10% of the funds generated from photo sales to Muscular Dystrophy Canada.
We are doing this in honour of a close friend who passed away last year at a very young age due to MD. One of our passions is to see people with MD live full lives, making the most of every moment. If possible, we would love to see these people recover from and even beat MD. We know all to well what it’s like to not know how many more days we will get to spend with a loved one dealing with a disease or a disability. It is our hope that in giving to causes, such as MDC, we can be a part of something great, something that will help enrich the lives of those with MD and those who know and love them. So know that a portion of your payment is going to have an impact in somebody’s life.
If you have suggestions of other great causes, feel free to contact us.
Tips on navigating the gallery
The goal was to organise the gallery in such a way that the participants’ photos would be organised by name, but currently the photos are simply organised by event. To reflect the organisation being more general, the photo cost is less than it would have been.
You will find links to the main portions of the event, such as Before, After, Swim, Bike, Awards, and Other. Some helpful info on some of the categories is as follows:
- Before: moments of preparation before the race
- Swim 1: the first swim period
- Swim 2: the later swim period (about 1 hr later)
- Transition: moments occurring in or around the transition zone
- Finish line: moments approaching, at, and just after the finish line
- After: for the most part, these photos specifically involve athletes after the race
- Other: for the most part, these photos may not involve athletes directly, but they were taken during the event.
Feel free to share the photos you like on your favourite social media! Each photo has links that allow you to do this. Spread the word! We don’t want anyone to miss out.
We would love to add that little extra to your photo!
You will notice that there is an option to purchase your photo with added “Edits.” What does that mean?
Remember that all photos in the gallery are provided as shot. To save unnecessary editing time, you are provided with the option to have your photo edited by us. To give you an idea of the difference it will make, see the example below.
To allow for enough space to store photos from future events, keep in mind that this event will be archived after 1 month of posting. Typically, we will put the album back up, but the photos will be of lower resolution to free up memory, allowing us to continue posting photos of more events. As the process will be more involved once the event is archived, the photos will cost more. So you are encouraged to make some time in the month before it is archived to take advantage of the best prices. If you are interested in getting a photo, but it won’t work for you to purchase it before the archival date, make a note of the photo number and store it somewhere. You can then contact Ray Penner Photography (RPP) and inquire about the photo. RPP can be contacted via Facebook or on the contact page.
The watermark will be taken off the photo once you purchase. The watermark is intended to ward off those who think they can get things for free. Ironically, people don’t value things that are free as much as when it costs something. We have taken the time to provide you with wonderful photos and a user friendly experience when it comes to viewing, sharing, and purchasing them. That’s a lot of value right there 🙂
For client access (that’s you!), the code is sylvialake. Using this code will enable you to “hide” photos you may not want visible in the gallery .
This year’s triathlon was a great success, thanks to the many volunteers and sponsors who helped put it on.
